acres in Duette

BUYER: SamWes LLC (principal: James Grainger), Bradenton

SELLER: FLF of Manatee Inc.

PROPERTY: 30975 E. State Road 64 and 708.355 acres of additional grading land, Duette

PRICE: $12.22 million

PREVIOUS PRICE: $850,000 and $1.85 million, January 2003

LAW FIRM ON DEED: Greene Hamrick Perrey Quinlan & Schermer PA, Bradenton

PLANS, DESCRIPTION: James Grainger’s SamWes purchased two parcels, totaling 2,259 acres of grazing land, in Duette near State Road 64 for $12.22 million. The purchase price equated to $5,409 per acre.

The former owner FLF of Manatee Inc. was led by John and Jay Taylor, the former owners of Palmetto-based tomato grower/packer shipper Taylor & Fulton. The Taylors sold Taylor & Fulton to Grainger, Brian Turner and Ed Angrisani in early 2008.

Grainger is also the owner of Grainger Farms Inc. in Bradenton and the co-owner of Ruskin-based Tomatoes of Ruskin Inc.

SamWes mortgaged the property back to FLF of Manatee Inc. for $11.96 million.
