Popular bar to get new look
A well-known Sarasota bar and restaurant is poised for a makeover. The Clubhouse Tavern, will be renamed Rusty Hook Tavern by its team of entrepreneurial owners. Located at the corner of Bee Ridge and Tuttle, Rusty Hook is co-owned by Sarasota restaurateur Cary Spicuzza and Mike Gowan and Mike Quillen, the duo behind the chain of Gecko’s Grill & Pubs in Sarasota and Manatee counties. Spicuzza runs the popular Hob Nob Drive-In Restaurant just outside of downtown Sarasota.
The owners will renovate the bar portion first and hope to have it ready to open by February. The project includes installing TVs and an entertainment area.
“The building is being completely gutted and redesigned with a Florida fishing and water-themed motif,” says Gowan. “We are looking forward to putting our combined years of experience together to create a fun new Sarasota hot spot.”
